* i fit the filters and bubbles motor and the heaters ( 28 degrees )
* i put the three frontosa in the tank

every thing seems good at begining ( moving and breathing )

i try to feed my frontosa with different kind of food but no use
six days now and they didn't eat any thing , they spit it back out , just taste it and then refuse it

What are the water readings?
Maybe if they are in water that has high nitrites or nitrates it can make them go off food.
Also, dont worry, they can go for a month without eating and be ok, though we hope thats not the case here.
What were they eating from the person you got them from?
They are also probably still adjusting, I know how frustrating it is to not have them eat...
Can you get Glassworms over there?
My WC Kapampa still dont eat aggressively until I put in Glassworms as was suggessted here on the forums, and they go crazy for them!
Keep us up to date please...

I'm not sure if I am reading this wrong. But are you saying you cleaned everything including filter and started it up with new water??

Please give us your water readings.

Think i would remove the green terror and try to get 2 more females so you get a nice group.
This will also reduce stress.
I also would lower the temp to 25 degrees and give them some places to hide.

Stop trying to feed them every day.
Don't feed them for a few days and get some (frozen) glassworms and try again.

Mine refused to eat for weeks when i moved them...theywere no worse off for it ifind they'll eat when they are ready.

I'm also interested in your water parameters ifyou have cleaned everything like you say you have... your fish not eating could be the last of your worries.

Hopefully the tank has been cycled,
if you put them into a brand new tank then the water parameters will be way off,
Thats we need to see the water readings.

Hi all
First of all thanks to all people who are doing the best to make the site just great as it is, special thanks to all who concern about my problem and try to help especially cjenkfam , K9 , Forestcat and Becca

following the readings of the tank water

PH = 7.93 .......... TOTAL HARDNESS = 329.4 PPM
as i mention, I change all water, clean the two filters, add required substance and put my frontosa in the tank
some thing I had to mention; how come discus fish was living in the same tank before i change its water for about 5 months with no problems and we know that it needs more and special care than frontosa , every time i clean the tank and change water i do the same steps , i miss nothing

WHY my frontosa didn't eat for a week ???
pet shop told me that they need time then will eat, i gave him two big discus, two knife, one big arowana , one red scat , one big crocodile fish , and one oscar for these three frontosa

i just love my new frontosa and will net change them with any other fish , i will bought another three or four females
but i am afraid to lose them if they keep spitting out food and not eat

please your help

Yeah,fronts can be like that.
Mine behaved the same way when i first got them.
I would give them the food they were used to but they kept spitting it out.
They can be very stubborn and drive you to despair.
Have you used the advice given to you so far?

i fix the temp. to 25 . i will remove the green terror from the tank as soon as i find another two female frontosa to trade them from the pet shop .

please advice ! should i change the tank ground to sand instead of the small rocks ? is it important ?

i noticed one of the my frontosa keep moving small stones by mouth from aplace to a nother ; why ?
i noticed also that this frontosa keep protecting the place it Occupied and when other fish try to go to her place ; it follow and try to bite and then come back to its place ;
*do i have to creat a places in the tank for my frontosa to be hide in ; is it essential ?
*can i put smaller frontosa in the tank 3 or 5 inch for example . is it safe ?

is my water readings in the tank good ? i noticed the colour of my frontosa became more clear and the blue colour shining , is it a sign that every thing is ok ??

many questions but i know there is very kind people here and expert and would help
i appreciate all your help

regards

How about the water reading or ammonia , nitrite and nitrates? If you cleaned the tank very well, then you may have reduced your biological part of the tank to nothing, thus your water parameters will be very high and maybe stressing the fish.
The behavior you describe sounds normal though and yes you can place a hide place or two to give them something to claim as their own.
I would definitely remove the green terror also.
Give us the water reading I stated above.
