Hi Lee. That's the one. But over here I think you have to buy like 10 kg pail. Works out to be able to condition a lot of water. Like 10 times more than the prime. Some of the LFS and bigger hobbiest use it here. For a few tanks not really worth it.

Thanks, I was under the impression that safe didnt have the same slime coat properties of Prime. But checked out web and seachem refer to it as dry version of Prime. The nice thing with prime is you can dose the correct amount using the cap.

Yep. I think its 1mil per 10 gal. or 40 litres. Or one capful to 50 gal or about 210 litres. Good stuff. And if you use to much it won't hurt anything. Like a lot of other chemicals.

Once the Prime bottle is opened. When should the contends be used up. Is there any expiration date. How long is the date for an unopened bottle. I have an opened bottle I don't use much and a second unopened bottle.

I like Prime, its the cheapest and easiest all around conditioner. I really like the fact that your ok if you add a little too much.
And the smell gets better with age Laughing

Lol!

Ok you've all convinced me, I have ordered 500ml. I'm bagging up a load of fronts next week for a 5 hour journey. Is there any benefit in adding prime to the bag to lock up the ammonia they produce?

With the amount of responces SeaChem should donate some money to help fund this forum!

I think I would dose the whole tank then use some water in the bags, not easy trying to dose a small amount.

I just (today) had an experience with PRIME. Ive used it religiously and am very satisfied. However, I had a tank set-up for my new Kapampa colony and after I brought them home, I tested the water and found a "high" reading in Ammonia. Now with 9 Kapampa sitting in my living room and a high reading in my tank, my anxiety rose dramatically. After much stressing out and finally a consult with my LFS who I trust, I found out that Ammonia has 2 forms in my water and the free-form Ammonia that is attached to the chloromine molecue in my water is dangerous, the Ammonia that is broken away from the chloromine molecue by the PRIME and subsequently attached to the PRIME is harmless to fish. Here's he catch, the harmless Ammomia now bound by the PRIME will give a FALSE POSITIVE in liquid test kits and was the source of my anxiety. I added the Kapampa colony to the tank and they are perfectly fine. I was educated today and thought I would share it for those that didnt know like myself.
