Frontosa alone works well. I have some calvis and comps. with my Mobas. But remember Frontosa grow faster and larger so you don't the other fish to be dinner!!

as for me, i like to keep frontosa by themselves. they will eat any fish that fit in their mouth.

I keep mine alone. But some plecos will work. Larger clown loaches will work as well. Tr6 made a list of good tankmates one time...try searching the forum for it.

How about single Syno. Multi catfish?
Will it work as good tankmate? Food sweeper?
or it may just disturb sleeping fronts esp when lights off?

Can't remember, are the Syno's the ones that will lay eggs along with the fronts eggs, and the mother will tumble them...and then the syno babies eat the front eggs??

I thought I read that somewhere...then again it's been a long day, lol

They eat eggs as they transfer their own.
that part is not a good idea.
if breeding is not your plan, then they are fine if big enough.

Frontosa don't lay alot of eggs, don't spawn frequently, and don't protect spawn site very well.

a small multi can fit in a frontosa's mouth, so make sure you have a big enough multi if you have big frontosa.

Denzio, some Victorian Cichlids keepers have Cuckoo's. Victorians apparently can hold quite a few cuckoo eggs. I personally could never do that to my Victorians, but I think Fern over on Cichlidsofvictoria.com has some experience with these.

Yeah. I,m plan to breed just now 2012
And I am just getting a single syno multi to join in the tank. So i believe it should not get to spawn or get to lay eggs.

But on second thought, does female synodontis lay egg even.without the presence of a male? Like other cichlids do?

Thanks! And thanks again to the thread starter

not sure if she will lay eggs, but she may well still try to eat the fronts eggs. be careful.
